SALARY & BENEFITS: £34,000 - £40,000


THE COMPANY: EMLC Academy Trust (EMLC AT) was incorporated in September 2012. EMLC AT is a Multi Academy Trust based in Olney, Buckinghamshire and deliberately all its schools are within an hour drive of the central office. Since incorporation, the MAT now includes five primary academies, one secondary academy and one all-through 4-19 Free School. They are now looking to recruit a Finance Manager.

THE ROLE: The Finance Manager is a pivotal role that will play a crucial part in the delivery of the Trust and academy’s Finance systems. The key aim of this role is to support the Finance and Operations Director to ensure the accounts and management information is relevant and is produced on a timely and accurate basis. This role is currently based in Olney, Buckinghamshire but will soon be relocating to Northampton.

The purpose of the Finance Manager is as follows -

• To ensure the monthly accounts are produced on a timely and accurate basis, and that income and expenditure accruals and prepayments are correctly calculated and reflected in the accounts;
• To produce the consolidated financial position showing the actuals for the period and year to date analysed against the budget and forecast.
• Produce a commentary to explain variances against budget and forecast and Key Performance data as agreed with the Finance and Operations Director. This includes performance on ring fenced budgets such as DEND and pupil premium.
• Co-ordinate the production of the annual budgeting and strategic planning, and provide all management information to inform the board of trustees (Including the budget and forecast return for the EFSA).
• Supporting the Finance and Operations Director with the production of the Annual Report and Accounts (Including the AAR return for the ESFA)
• Provide leadership to the finance team and taking responsibility for the day to day management of the accounts team including training and mentoring team members
• Identify ways to build the capability and awareness of general financial management within the Trust, but particularly with the Business Managers/Bursars and provide training

Key experience essential for the Finance Manager role:
• Educated to Degree level or equivalent essential
• Experience of management accounting essential
• Experience of costing and budgeting essential
• Happy to complete a standard application pack
• Live within a commutable distance of Northampton
