About Us: The National Literacy Trust is a national charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK. We run projects in the poorest communities, campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians and parents, and support schools. Our mission is to give young people the literacy skills they need to get a job and lead a successful life. One person in six in the UK has poor literacy skills that impact on every area of their life. A child without good reading, writing and communication skills can’t succeed at school, and as an adult they could be locked out of the job market. Poverty doubles the likelihood of literacy failure by the age of five. We are looking for a Project Manager to join our team on a part time basis for a one year fixed-term contract, to work with nurseries and other settings to improve their support for early language and communication. The Role: As Project Manager, you will manage the delivery of our Helping Early Language and Literacy Outcomes (HELLO) improvement framework, which helps nurseries and other early years settings to improve their early communication, language and literacy provision. The programme is supported by Greater Manchester Combined Authority and will be delivered to 312 settings across 10 local authority areas until April 2019. Specifically, you will: - Complete project management activities - Co-ordinate and support project activities, events, venues, training, project logistics, resource packs and consumables - Track project spend, oversee and manage budgets, and process invoices and payments - Support the communications strategy, present the outcomes to wider audiences and represent the National Literacy Trust in the public forum About You: To join us as a Project Manager, you’ll need: - Experience of project management - Experience with training early years practitioners and working with schools and/or children - Good external stakeholder relationship management skills Other organisations may call this role Project Manager, Education Project Manager, Early Years Programme Manager, Literacy Project Delivery Manager, Education Programme Manager or Literacy Programme Manager.
