Experienced Qualified Social Worker
What’s not to like about being a Hampshire Children’s social worker?
As a Children’s Social Worker you would be working for one of the top five performing children’s social care authorities. We’re also one of seven authorities, selected by the Department for Education to be a ‘Partner in Practice’ – developing new ways of working to update and enhance social work practice.
We are committed to working with social workers in their development and to create the right conditions for good practice to flourish.
The County Council has committed to an additional investment of £6.5 million in additional staff and resource over the next two years. This will be achieved over the next two years which will enable us to safely reduce the number of children in our care.
With more great social workers like you we will have greater capacity to support families who are struggling to cope at the very earliest stages. It is our fundamental belief that, wherever possible, what is best for children is for them to remain living with their parents or wider family - bringing a child in to care should be the very last resort.
More freedom to practice
Through our multi-million pound investment programme we are going to get even better at what we do and grow our social work practice to help make working life for social workers easier.
We have introduced more flexible working options to fit around today’s lifestyles. We’re developing support to help social workers widen their skills and expertise. This includes being able to offer a range of new and innovative training and building in to our practitioner’s working hours, five days per annum of personal development time in addition to the access to the current training on offer.
In addition, we’re creating opportunities for social workers to experience working in different teams and different areas of social work practice to widen their experience and expand the capabilities of our staffing resource.
Social Workers are being equipped with new hybrid laptop devices and new smart phones so that they can manage their time effectively, and in a way that suits them. Armed with this technology, our social workers are able to work more flexibly, while they are out and about, removing the need for them to be in the office unnecessarily
We have also recruited personal assistants for social workers, to ensure that they have the right back office support to free them up to practice.
Not local to Hampshire?
Not a problem, we are able to offer up to £8,500 for those experienced social workers who make the move to Hampshire, subject to management approval.
We want experienced, talented social workers to join our high calibre frontline teams in our Children’s Services Department.
