Senior Accountant - Reed Business Information - Sutton
The finance department at RBI is made up of a team of 80 people, located around the world and focused on providing high quality, insightful and efficient support to the business both in their day to day operations and executing their long term strategies. The department is structured into the four key responsibilities of business partnering (FP&A), accounting and compliance (R2R), global transaction services (P2P & O2C) and reporting & analysis – each performing their own function within the department, but working closely together to successfully deliver our departmental goals.
Purpose of the role
As RBI is a company focussed on growth, both organic and acquisition related, striving to focus on its core competencies in order to provide the best product it can to the market and to maximise its profit potential, an opportunity has arisen within the Global Accounting and Compliance team for a technically strong, driven and ambitious qualified accountant to join the finance function. The individual will lead on various project opportunities including:
- the acquisition and disposal accounting, integration and commencement into BAU of all purchases or sales made by the company with support from the wider team;
- System changes and enhancements; and
- Process improvements – driving for efficiencies.
As well as take responsibility for various BAU activities required in order to fulfil our financial and reporting requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and analyse schedules and reports for management review whilst understanding the impact to company financials
Play an integral role in improving the efficiency of business processes within Accounting & Compliance including making and implementing these process improvements whilst managing key stakeholders
Be the Accounting & Compliance representative on acquisition steering committees;
Lead acquisition or disposal activity from an Accounting & Compliance point of view including accounting, controls and governance requirements
Manage the divisionalisation of remote entities
Take responsibility for ensuring the smooth integration of acquired businesses into the global systems and control framework
Key involvement within wider finance projects in relation to system changes or upgrades
• Work closely with the Head of Accounting Services to support internal and external audit reviews;
KEY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Fully qualified chartered accountant (ACA/ACCA)
Previous PQE essential
Strong financial technical skills
Awareness of internal controls and compliance requirements
Strong Excel skills
Proven experience of working in a commercially focused finance team, preferably in a fast paced, multi-site, large company
A high degree of commercial acumen is essential, together with the ability to think through the numbers and communicate effectively the interpretation of key issues in a clear, concise manner
A rigorous mind-set and the ability to deliver timely and insightful information
Good influencing skills with senior managers and the senior leadership team, using clear logical data presented in a structured manner that shapes business decisions;
Proven experience in leading on projects and engagement with wider teams in order to complete an objective
Ability to work well under pressure and looking for a new challenge
Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building capabilities with the ability to quickly form working relationships and gain credibility with senior management.
