Support Worker (Family Services)

Pact is a national charity that supports those who have been affected by imprisonment and their children and families.

Position: Family Support Worker
Location: HMP Nottingham, Nottinghamshire (Commutable from Long Eaton, Derby, Louughbroogh, Melton Mowbrage, Newark-on-Trent, Mansfield and surrounding areas)
Job type: Part Time, Permanent
Hours: 10 per week (Saturdays & Sundays - available for job share)
Salary: £4,550 (FTE £17,062.50)

About the role:

As a Family Support Worker at HMP Nottingham you will work as one of the Pact Family team, you will be based primarily in the prison’s visitor centre and Visits Hall providing support, advice and guidance to families visiting prisoners, facilitating prison visits, working on the booking line as required and supporting the Social Enterprise Café service.

This role is available for job share and would consist of the following shift pattern;

10 hours x 1 post (Saturdays and Sundays) or 5 hours x 2 posts (Saturdays or Sundays).

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable understanding of working with families in a multi-agency environment and / or customer care and working in a catering environment.

You will also have excellent organisational skills, customer care skills and the ability to work in a busy environment.

You will have the ability to contribute to planning and development of Pact’s family work.

You will be able to provide warm, human support and to ensure that children, families and prisoners are treated with respect, dignity and courtesy.

This post is subject to a 6 month probationary period, verification of identity and proven right to work in the UK, satisfactory references from previous employers covering a 3 year period, declaration of any unspent criminal convictions (and where appropriate a satisfactory risk assessment), Prison Vetting and a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check. Please note that being bankrupt or having County Court Judgements may affect your ability to be successfully vetted to work in a prison.
