Introduction

Our client is the UK arm of an international leader in their field. They manufacture and supply a wide range of high specification, physical perimeter solutions to a cross section of B2B clients within the public and private sectors.

Following a full strategic review, they are now positioning themselves to take advantage of real business opportunities in specific UK target sectors and are looking to make a key appointment to the role of OPERATIONS MANAGER for their South Yorkshire plant.

The successful applicant will bring all round operations credentials including experience in, or management of production, planning, logistics and procurement. The Operations Manager will make a key contribution to the highest standards of customer service based upon consistent quality delivery.

Reporting to: Managing Director

Key responsibilities:
  • Accomplish plant objectives by managing staff, planning and evaluating activities, ensuring efficiency of workflow and related procedures, to meet targeted production levels and customer service delivery.
  • To develop production plans to support commitment on revenue targets.
  • To manage the sites manufacturing and supply chain functions with regards to output, quality, maintenance, safety, productivity and profitability.
  • To focus very heavily on leadership, planning, people development and the achievement of business goals through continuous improvement.
  • Set up visual operating procedures to show accurate data on Production Line performance and organize daily performance reporting, identifying and resolving any problem areas.
  • Ensure that all work leaving the plant is compliant with Quality Standards and ensure the highest standards in housekeeping.
  • Manage the warehousing, planning and purchasing functions and support other functions within the business.
  • Set and deploys operational and financial targets and key performance indicators and follows up on performance against same.
  • Ensure that all operations are conducted to comply with Health and Safety standards, quality standards and all regulatory requirements.
  • Actively support relationship with key suppliers ensuring that procurement is carried out effectively and is consistent with profit and sales plans.

Candidate profile:
  • Ambitious Operations Manager from a production background.
  • Experience in, or management of, some of the following: production, engineering, planning, procurement, quality.
  • Degree or similar in related discipline - Engineering, Metallurgy, Business Management.
  • Engineering background, preferably mechanical or electromechanical, but not essential.
  • Working knowledge and experience of Continuous Improvement.
  • Understanding of work flow processes and business unit functionalities.
  • Strong understanding of business finance.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and an excellent communicator both written and verbal.
  • Strategic insight, strong leadership skills.
  • Strong Analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
