Are you looking for a change in career? Could you support someone with a learning disability, helping them live more independently?
MacIntyre is a leading national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. Our core belief is that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.
We are looking for full-time (38 hpw) and part-time (various hours) Support Workers to join the friendly team at our supported living service in Royston. No experience needed. We're also looking for relief (casual) staff.
About the role
At this service we support five young men with learning disabilities or autism, who live fairly independently. You will work with them as they continue to build their life skills and enjoy being active members of their local community, whether that's going out shopping, for a walk or for an evening in the pub. There is no challenging behaviour.
You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins.
What we need from you
Experience is not necessary, as we provide a full induction and free training programme, so this role is suitable for a trainee or for someone looking to change career. While some people join us having worked as a care assistant or similar, it's more important to us that you are an engaging, positive person, with a desire to learn new things.
Pay and Rewards
MacIntyre offers a full induction and ongoing training, including the opportunity to gain nationally accredited vocational qualifications. We also offer a range of benefits which include:
- Generous annual leave allowance of 33 days including statutory public holidays, rising with service to a maximum of 38 days after five years.
- Free training
- Workplace pension scheme
- Employee Assistance scheme to support your health and wellbeing
- MacIntyre Staff Savings Scheme
Salaries are dependent on successful completion of a probation period. Part time positions are pro rata, and we pay £35 per sleep-in.
The closing date for this position is: 13 April 2017
