The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BIES) is recruiting a Head of Delivery Smart Metering Implementation Programme.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the departments major programmes deliver the roll out of over 50 million smart meters by energy suppliers in 30 million premises by the end of 2020.

The Head of Delivery role is pivotal in putting in place a comprehensive technical solution to serve as many consumers as possible, completing the Smart Energy Code - which controls use of the smart metering system - and (subject to approval) introducing an enabling Bill to Parliament.

To be considered for this role you will need to be a strategic and lateral thinker who is politically aware and attuned to the challenges of delivering large scale programmes within complex organisations.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent senior leadership with experience of successfully leading diverse multidisciplinary teams; a track record of operating strategically from the centre providing clear direction to deliver through others across the organisation and your team player skills.

We also expect you to demonstrate your experience of building highly effective and collaborative working relationships with a range of stakeholders, with an ability to influence and confidently challenge when necessary; a strong commercial acumen with a good understanding of the Project and Programme Management environment; and an understanding of the UK energy industry with previous experience in, or an understanding of, technology delivery.
