HM Revenues & Customs (HMRC) is on the UK’s largest organisations. We are the UK’s tax, payments and customs authority, and we have a vital purpose, which is to collect the money that pays for the UK’s public services and help families and individuals with targeted financial support. We are changing the way we do things to make it easier for our compliant customers and harder for our non-complaint customers and are therefore investing £1.3 billion to transform HMRC into becoming one of the most digitally advanced tax administrations in the world.

HMRC is a non-ministerial department, supported by 2 agencies and public bodies.

This is an exciting time to join HMRC as we adapt to the digital revolution by building an exceptional team of highly skilled IT leaders and aim to be the most digitally advance Tax Authority in the world.  IT Delivery is at the very heart of this and therefore this role would be key in shaping the organisations future.  As this is a key leadership role, you will be reporting to the Director and be at the forefront of Government. As an outstanding leader and strong communicator you will lead the delivery of IT Change for HMRC, managing relationships across a multi supplier environment. You will also be responsible building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders across HMRC, HM Treasury and Cabinet Office, working seamlessly with the other functional units to achieve flawless delivery.  You will have line management responsibility and will play a leading role in engaging with other senior staff and the Executive Committee.

The successful postholder will have demonstrable experience of large scale deployment open source solutions and a sound grasp of the rapidly changing digital landscape in both public and private sector. A strong IT background gained through comprehensive understanding of IT technologies is key. You will be a motivating and inspirational leader that is able to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and work under pressure on fundamental projects. All our Deputy Directors are members of the Department’s senior management team and are expected to play an active role in the ongoing development of the organisation.
