LOCATION: Towcester, Northamptonshire

JOB TITLE: LIO Development Manager

SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP25,000 per annum

WORKING HOURS: Monday - Friday 37 hours per week

THE COMPANY: Our client, established in 1993, promotes volunteering and works with individuals and organisations helping them to get the most out of volunteering. It also works with other local agencies assisting them to increase their capacity and to develop new initiatives.

They work in the community as the Local Infrastructure Organisation (LIO) supporting the voluntary and community sector in South Northamptonshire. This vacancy will be based at our client's head office in Towcester, Northamptonshire.

THE ROLE: Reporting to the CEO the LIO Development Manager will provide local infrastructure organisational (LIO) support services to voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations/groups to enable capacity building and a resilient VCS; encompassing strategic partnership working with statutory and private sector organisations.

Key Accountabilities of a LIO Development Manager to include:-
  • To provide advice, guidance, development and support services to voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations/groups, which empower and enable capacity building within the sector.
  • To engage and work in partnership with statutory and private sector organisations to promote LIO service delivery in the VCS, which aligns and complements the strategic priorities of the charity and provides mutual benefit(s) to the partner agencies.
  • To ensure a range of communication methods are utilised including social media to promote the LIO service offered including information relevant to the VCS, advice, funding information, events, consultations, training, volunteering, promotion of other groups and local, regional and national information.
  • To organise events for networking, bringing together for consultation response, information and best practice sharing i.e. SN VCS Forum and Link Up. Promotion of other events to promote services and concept of support.
  • To ensure an appropriate fundraising strategy is maintained to secure the long term financial stability of the charity.
  • To represent the charity as the VCS LIO at key forums/meetings e.g. Northamptonshire Development Workers and Funders Network meeting.
  • To manage relationships with external agencies, statutory, voluntary and commercial to optimise the impact of the charity and its work.
  • To complete LIO monitoring reports for funder(s) in a timely manner
  • To manage the office in the absence of the CEO.

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal coupled with excellent interpersonal skills including networking. The successful candidate will have good analytical and organisational skills with an ability to think creatively to support VCS groups. A flexible approach combined with good time management is needed as is an outgoing personality and enthusiasm to promote the work of the charity.

Key attributes essential for the role of LIO Development Manager based in Towcester:
  • Must live within a commutable distance of Towcester
  • A minimum of 2/3 years' experience of delivering local infrastructure services to the voluntary and statutory sectors.
  • Will have previous experience of the promotion and marketing of local infrastructure support services and/or organisation.
  • Will have good general IT skills - use of the Internet, email, Microsoft Office etc.
  • A good understanding of the local and national social and economic environments which affect the voluntary sector and associated issues; in particular the provision of infrastructure support to voluntary sector delivery organisations.
