Adecco are recruiting for a Deputy Head of People and Organisational Development for North Wales Police. We are looking for individuals who have extensive HR leadership experience at a strategic level. The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Fellow, or member of the CIPD with proven leadership experience who can assist in improving organisational performance.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:

* To support the leadership of the POD Function by taking responsibility for the running of the HR arm of the function, inclusive of Occupational Health to ensure delivery of a comprehensive service that is aligned to Force priorities, objectives and legal compliance.

* To ensure effective delivery and development of the People Strategy working closely with respective Service Leads & HRBPs with delegated responsibility

* To provide expert advice and support to a range of senior colleagues within the Force at all levels on all aspects of human resources and associated employment law.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

The role requires applicants who can demonstrate (with evidence) skills in the following areas:

* Significant leadership experience within a large fast-paced organisation, with a proven track record of delivering results in an operational HR context; meeting challenging organisational goals and creating the momentum to deliver significant change.

* The ability to build effective working relationships through clear communication and a collaborative approach.

* Is capable of thinking beyond the constraints of current ways of working, and is prepared to propose and support radical change when required to ensure HR services deliver value for money.

* Evidence a clear understanding of strategic & operational HR, and its role in improving organisational performance.

* To demonstrate a wide knowledge and experience of consultation & negotiation in a unionised environment and sound knowledge of the employment legislation.

* Strong inter-personal and influencing skills to effectively communicate at all levels within the organisation with a leadership style that promotes team spirit and morale.

* Strong problem solving skills to resolve complex disputes.

* Ability to quickly assimilate information and appreciate the relevance of wider implications of issues that emerge.

* Ability to make sound and far-reaching strategic decisions on major issues and take responsibility for them

WELSH:

The level of Welsh skill required for this position: Level 3
NB consideration of Level 2 on appointment progressing to Level 3 during probationary period with assistance from Force.
