Director of Communications
- Are you a senior communications professional who has worked within high profile, complex environments?
- Do you have experience of successfully developing compelling communication and public affairs strategies?
- Are you able to manage communication responses to controversial issues that attract significant media and public interest?
If so, you may be our next Director of Communications.
The Food Standards Agency is a non-ministerial Government department responsible for regulating the food industry in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
This is an exciting time to join the Agency. We are at a pivotal moment in food regulation and food standards - 25% of the way through a bold four year transformation programme, aimed at modernising and future proofing the regulatory regime in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The UK’s exit from the EU will create both opportunities and additional expectations - over 95% of the department’s work is currently driven by legislation and regulation originating in Europe. Whilst we don’t yet know all that this entails, we do know that sustaining public trust in food and maintaining high food standards are non-negotiable for consumers in the UK and abroad.
Following the recent appointment of our new Chief Executive Officer, we are now recruiting for the challenging but rewarding role of Director of Communications to provide strong and visible leadership in all communications matters for the Agency.
In this critical role you will lead the Food Standards Agency’s communications team, setting strategy and providing advice in support of the Agency’s priorities and delivering critical communications services across a wide brief.
Whilst experience of the food sector may be helpful, what’s more important to us is that you are an inspirational and engaging senior leader with a successful communications track record within a high profile complex environment.
If you are interested in what this role could offer you and think you have the skills, experience and ambition that we are looking for, we’d love to hear from you.
