HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) are leading the technology revolution across Government and by 2020 will be one of the most digitally advanced tax authorities in the world.  We have some of the best delivery centres and some of the biggest and most exciting digital projects in Europe.  We have the largest IT estate in the UK and one of the 15 largest in the world, with over 400 different tax systems, 5,000 servers and nearly 600 different IT applications.  As an organisation, our customers include nearly every UK citizen and business and every day we collect more than £1.2 billion in revenue and pay out more than £109 million in benefits and credits.

Having successfully moved to smaller, more flexible, IT contracts through the Columbus programme, we now have the flexibility needed to innovate and look for efficiencies in our services that benefit customers.

As such, we need an experienced commercial operator to lead our Finance Department in supporting the ongoing transformation of this division, which operates in a mixed insource and outsource delivery model.  Key will be your ability to and experience of operating at scale with an understanding and awareness of the technology environment that we are working in.  However, what will set you apart in this field will be your experience of working with large, complex contracts across multi suppliers and your ability to think strategically - positioning us as a business to successfully navigate the next round of contracts as part of this programme.

This is a stretching opportunity for an outstanding individual to make a difference in one of the largest, most complex and diverse organisations in the UK, making this an incredibly challenging, interesting and rewarding leadership role.
