Full Time

Are you passionate about improving the life skills and opportunities of vulnerable young people through theatre and drama? Are you someone who is highly motivated and innovative?

Intermission is a pioneering theatre-based youth mentoring programme that has, for the past ten years, given young people from London a chance to cross cultural and postcode divides to improve their lives.

Using original drama and contemporized/street-culture Shakespeare scenes to explore difficult social issues such as gang rivalry, social media, identity, bullying and knife crime, our work has had a significant impact on young peoples' lives.

We are looking to appoint an Outreach Manager to maintain and develop creative programmes that engage with young people in schools, pupil referral units and young offenders' institutions, in accessible and culturally relevant ways.

Working with a team of young actors from largely socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds and a small team of external facilitators, you will maintain and develop arts activities that connect with young people who often find it difficult to fit into the education system and society. You will develop longer-term partnerships among young offenders' institutions and schools, to facilitate greater impact on the young people with whom we are working.

Intermission is a partner with the Royal Shakespeare Company's Associate Schools Programme, helping teachers and young people experience, engage with and take ownership of the work of Shakespeare. We also run a very vibrant Youth Theatre programme.

Intermission has a big vision and we are looking for someone who matches the ambition and passion of our current team, to bring about change in young peoples' lives.
