An exciting opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety professional.
Our client is responsible for delivering a fire and rescue service to the 805,000 people of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. They operate from 28 fire stations, 27 of which are operational. Their stations vary in status from being staffed 24/7, 365 days a year, to being completely on-call, meaning firefighters are on call day and night and are alerted to incidents by a pager.

Salary: GBP29,816 per annum

About the Role:
The Service is looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to be responsible for delivering an effective, specialist technical support to line managers and supervisory offices within the Service.
The Health and Safety Advisor will maintain health and safety project activities and research as directed by the Health and Safety team leader as well as supporting management teams through development, review and maintenance of operational risk assessments. You will identify and recommend effective solutions to address potential health and safety environmental management system weaknesses through audit / review processes.
To be considered for this position, you will need to hold a NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) as well as Technical Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (TechIOSH). Experience of H&S Audit, Inspection and Risk Assessment is an essential requirement, as is a full current driving licence.
You will have up to date knowledge of current and forthcoming safety legislation and associated guidance and best practice and the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, guidance and standards in a practical and pragmatic manner. Good working IT knowledge as well as a clear and concise communication style are also key requirements.
Ideally, you'll have an understanding of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 as well experience of providing H&S advice and expertise to staff at all levels. Equally, the ability to analyse and interpret accident / indecent trends and reports to identify potential weaknesses and failure points is also highly desirable.
You may have experience of the following: Health and Safety Advisor, Health and Safety Officer, H&S Advisor, ISO14001, OHSAS18001, NEBOSH, TechIOSH, H&S Officer, etc.
