We’re looking for an In-house Commercial Lawyer to join us in Manchester. This newly formed in house role will report to the Company Secretary and Director of Governance and will be the only qualified lawyer in the business. As a subject matter expert in an innovative tech business you will be critical in ensuring that we protect our assets and consider risks. You will work closely with the Head of Procurement and the Director of Risk and Compliance but will offer support and guidance to multiple business areas including technology and advertising. Using your commercial experience you will draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements with suppliers and customers. Alongside this you will actively manage external counsel to ensure any external advice is delivered in a cost-effective manner

We would love to speak to candidates that are working in an in-house role, or have relevant secondment experience. You will be a qualified solicitor with around 5 years PQE*, although we are happy to also consider applications that fall outside of this PQE range. You will have a strong grounding in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts; ideally including IT/technology/software and marketing.

Through your PQE experience you will have developed a commercial and pragmatic approach that allows you to make informed decisions. We love working in an Agile environment and value collaboration so it’s important that you’re flexible in your approach and are a great relationship builder. Your strong communication and influencing skills will allow you to communicate complex legal issues in a way that suits the audience’s need. Candidates from digital or technology businesses will be of particular interest. In addition, experience in data protection, intellectual property, corporate law or compliance would be advantageous.

We are happy to consider applications on either a full, part time or flexible basis. If you have any questions surrounding working hours before applying please reach out to us. We offer a competitive salary and a great flexible benefits package including 25 days’ holiday, pension and healthcare. We believe in providing more than just salary and benefits. We’ll give you time and support so you can develop your career. As you can see, it’s not limited to what you learn at your desk. If we sound like the kind of place for you then we would love to hear from you.

Everyone is unique in their own way and we are looking for people from all walks of life to become part of our inclusive culture. We’re committed to making Auto Trader a diverse and inclusive environment for everyone.
