Hearing Panel lay member
We are seeking to appoint a lay Hearing Panel member
Are you interested in playing a vital role in enhancing our work and enabling the GOC to assure the health and protection of those who use the services of optometrists and dispensing opticians?
We are the regulator for optical professionals in the UK. Our Hearings Panel judges whether an optometrist's or dispensing optician’s fitness to practice is impaired and imposes sanctions if appropriate to do so.
We are looking for a lay person with good communication, analysis, critical thinking and team working skills and a demonstrable commitment to dealing with people and issues honestly, fairly and with respect. This role is rewarding and challenging and presents a great opportunity for personal development through learning from the experience of other hearing panel members as well as sharing your own.
Interviews will be held in our London office on
Thursday 31 May and Friday 1 June 2018.
Fees and expenses: we pay a fee of £311 per day when acting as a hearing panel member and reasonable travel and subsistence expenses
Appointment start date: 1 July 2018
Time commitment: part-time (a commitment of 30 - 40 days per annum is required)
Application deadline: 12:00 pm on Monday 19 March 2018
We strive to be as diverse as the public we protect and welcome applications from everyone, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity.
