The Home Office is part-way through a profound transformation and we now have some fantastic opportunities to join us as a Business Administration Apprentice.

An 18-month apprenticeship programme which will lead to a nationally recognised qualification, this will open doors to other avenues of learning with all roles designed to be a great stepping stone for a future career in the Civil Service.

There will be a number of roles available and you will be allocated to a role based on suitability and business need. Rest assured you will be working in a fast paced environment, part of a small pilot cohort of apprentices working in either strategy, change and policy teams across the Home Office and around the country. Or, alternatively you could be working in London within the Private Office environment with regular contact with the Home Office ministerial team, as well as some of the most senior officials in the Civil Service. The work you do will be crucial to the team’s delivery.

If you are highly motivated with sound communication and relationship-building skills, thrive working as part of a team then this is the role for you. It is really an exciting time to join the Home Office so if you are enthusiastic, adaptable and inquisitive with a strong sense of personal ethics then we would love to hear from you.

Full details on how to apply, the job description and person specification are contained within the Candidate Information Pack.

To Note:

• You will be allocated to a role based on suitability and business need
• Travel around the UK, with occasional overnight stays may be necessary

Essential criteria:

• Applicants must be over the age of 16 on the closing date for applications
• Applicants must, as a minimum, have 2 GCSEs at grades A* to D (including English and Maths*) or equivalent qualifications at Level 2 – see https://www.gov.uk/what-different-qualification-levels-mean for further information.

* successful applicants without a C or equivalent in English and Maths will be required to reach this standard during the apprenticeship programme in order to gain the qualification.

Please note - You should not enter for a qualification of the same type, content and level as that of a qualification you already hold. However, if the apprenticeship will allow the individual to acquire substantive new skills and you can evidence that the content of the training is materially different from any prior qualification or a previous apprenticeship you may be eligible. If you already have qualifications above level 3, e.g. you are a Graduate, this post may not be suitable for you – you may wish to consider the Civil Service Fast Stream: https://www.faststream.gov.uk/

If you need any help determining if your qualifications are at least the equivalent of GCSE Maths and English Language (Grade A-D) please visit https://www.gov.uk/what-differentqualification-levels- mean/compare-different-qualification-levels or speak to your local careers service.

We are sorry that we are NOT able to provide advice and guidance prior to your application to this regard. We are able to accept qualifications that were obtained abroad as long as they are accepted to be the equivalent of GCSE’s as determined by https://www.naric.org.uk

Closing date: midnight on 20th April 2018.
