About Lincolnshire County Council

Lincolnshire is steeped with history and brimming with life. Situated on the east coast of England, Lincolnshire stretches from the Humber to the Wash, covering an area of 2,687 square miles and is made up of seven diverse districts.

It has an outstanding area of ever-changing landscapes and exciting scenery, shaped by a rich tapestry of fascinating heritage, passionate people and interesting traditions.

Each year thousands of people choose to come to Lincolnshire, primarily for the quality of life it has to offer. There is a real mix of a thriving urban city, bustling historic market towns, idyllic villages, miles of unspoilt coastline and areas of natural beauty.

We have low crime rates, affordable housing, good education facilities and a healthy environment making it a great place to live and work.

From a work perspective, Lincolnshire offers a wide variety of experiences; including inner city issues, coastal deprivation, rural remoteness and a high influx of immigration to the south of the county.

Lincolnshire has such a diverse business base and this is one of its greatest strengths as a place to live and work.

Famous for being a great agricultural county thanks to the fertile, arable land which produces more crops than any other county in Britain. However, Lincolnshire has diversified into many other economic sectors; these include engineering, manufacturing, tourism and service sectors. Another important aspect of the county’s economy is the number of Armed Forces’ bases located in the County.

The County has dedicated significant resources in the last few years to stimulate growth in new sectors, harnessing millions of European and public money to incubate new businesses, encourage companies to add value to their production processes and to create a high quality working space for modern businesses - at costs well below the regional and national averages.

Of particular significance is the multi-million-pound shopping, leisure and university developments currently taking place in the city of Lincoln which is set to transform the economy of Lincolnshire.
