If you’re looking to develop your career, in a culture that believes in giving everyone the support and training they need to progress, we could have a role for you. Whether you’re interested in an in-branch or office-based job, you’ll get the opportunities, recognition and rewards you need to make it happen.
At HSBC, we’re committed to gender diversity, and that means more than just talking about gender in the workplace. It means giving all our people every opportunity to develop both personally and professionally. And as empowered, driven people with a diverse range of backgrounds and views come together, we’re able to deliver an incredible service to our customers.
Employee Resource Groups
Our Employee Resource Groups drive a balanced workforce, while providing focused development and engagement support across the UK. Among others working closely with the Global Balance Network, the Working Parents Network and Women’s Development Association, we’re always looking for ways to make sure our employee’s voices are heard in the workplace. That’s why our people regularly attend networking events and conferences to find out how they can drive positive change.
Flexible hours and family friendly benefits
Having a family shouldn’t mean sacrificing career progression. That’s why we offer our colleagues a guaranteed part-time role at the same grade and salary as their full-time job when returning from maternity. This gives them the time and security they need to build confidence and achieve a positive work-life balance. We also support working mums through our enhanced flexi-time scheme, which encourages colleagues to discuss their unique needs with their manager to arrange a work schedule that’s right for them.
Our efforts haven’t gone unnoticed – we’ve been named on The Sunday Times ‘Top 100 Best Companies to work for’ and ‘Top 50 Places to Work for Women’ for 2015. Our Employee Resource Groups have also been recognised, when Balance was awarded ‘Outstanding Diversity Network’ at the National Diversity awards.
What our employees say about us
"I've always wanted a career and children. I'm now a mum with a successful career in a high-performing London team, working flexi-time hours 8.45am - 2.45pm five days a week, which has helped me achieve my ambition."
Liz Ambler, Regional Risk Manager
“HSBC recognises the difference an individual brings, and allows colleagues to experience careers as unique as they are. We’re committed to retaining our very best talent – and to do that, we need to be flexible to a diverse range of needs.
As a working mother of three, knowing I have an employer that encourages development both at home and in my career gives me a lot of confidence. From returning to work after having children, to just managing the day-to-day challenges life throws up, as long as I give it my all, I know HSBC will be there to support me.”
Lucy Williams, UK Head of Compliance, and Executive Sponsor of Gender Diversity
