I'm excited to be working with a fantastic Public Sector organisation in the Lichfield area, who are looking for a PR & Marketing Officer to join there team, on a 16 hour per week basis.

1. Job Purpose

Working within the communications team, the postholder is primarily responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of marketing campaigns in order to deliver the organisations vision and priority outcomes.

In promoting the organisation as community leader, the postholder will also develop and lead a programme of community events in order to maximise opportunities for residents to be involved in activities within their community.

The postholder will also provide a communications resource to the organisation and work closely with the Communications Officer in delivering the Communications Strategy, particularly with regard to external communications.

To promote and enhance the companies reputation through effective marketing and public participation in community events; ensuring that communications are targeting to maximise such opportunities.

3. Organisational Structure

The postholder is responsible to the Interim Communications Manager

4. Key Responsibilities

Marketing:

The postholder is responsible for the provision of advice and guidance to managers across the organisation in relation to the development of marketing campaigns.

Undertake clear market segmentation using customer insight and other data sources to inform the development of every campaign and to ensure that a targeted approach is used to meet the needs of varying audiences.

In relation to the development of campaigns, work with the appropriate managers in order to establish the agreed marketing budget which is available.

Devise, develop and deliver marketing campaigns across the organisation; ensuring that all campaigns have clear messages which are linked to the companies vision and corporate priorities.

Maintain the organisations corporate identity in all marketing materials and ensure it is used consistently throughout the organisation to ensure the visibility of the companies services.

In relation to partnership campaigns, work with the LSP Manager and fellow marketing professionals within partner organisations to ensure consistent branding and maintenance of the companies corporate identity as a partner as appropriate.

Throughout the development and delivery of campaigns, the postholder is responsible for the full management of the project and ensuring that appropriate performance management arrangements are in place in order to manage the ongoing effectiveness of the campaign. In doing so, the postholder needs to be both pro-active and responsive in identifying any changes which are required and implementation thereof in order to ensure the optimum success of the campaign.

Ensure that all campaigns have clear outcomes which can be quantified to evaluate success and a measurable return on the investment in terms of value for money.

Communications

Establish and communicate the key messages and priorities of the company in order to limit adverse publicity and also improve public perceptions of and confidence in the company.

Ensure that the companies corporate identity is used consistently within communications activities to promote the visibility of the organisations services.

Ensure that published corporate communications are of a high and consistent standard and serve to improve the reputation of the company, whilst effectively communicating information to the relevant audiences.

Develop and sustain positive relationships with the media on behalf of the organisation by handling all media enquiries, issuing responses/statements on both a local and national level.

5. Decision Making

The postholder will exercise their professional judgement in making decisions on appropriate courses of action and responses in order to protect and enhance the organisations reputation through its communication activities. There will be occasions where there are no recognised procedures to determine a course of action and personal discretion and initiative will need to be exercised by the postholder in these circumstances.

6. Complexity/Problem Solving

The level of problem solving will involve the analysis of information from a variety of sources which is often varied and complex. Such information may be of a multi disciplinary nature and involve factors and implications which are difficult to evaluate. The postholder will frequently be subject to conflicting demands and unavoidable interruptions and is therefore required to switch between a range of disassociated tasks and activities and regularly work to unpredictable and short deadlines.

7. Impact on End Results

The postholder will have an impact on improving the reputation of the organisation, through the delivery of targeted marketing and campaign activities, effective PR strategies and evaluation to raise the profile of the organisation.

Through the delivery of community and corporate events, the postholder will contribute to enhancing and promoting the companies reputation as community leader both locally and on a wider basis
