About the team

The Digital & IT department here at Harlow College have opened a new pathway in Coding and Development. The new role will increase the number of skilled young people in the gaming and media industries not only in the local area but in the region. The gaming pathway provides not only educational progression opportunity from Level 1 to Level 4 qualifications, but also an opportunity to work on ‘live’ commercial projects.

About the role

We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and talented staff to join the growing Digital and IT team at Harlow College. This is a fantastic opportunity to pass on your skills and inspire the next generation by working in Further Education.

If you are qualified to degree level or equivalent in computer science with strong communication skills and passion for new media technology using Apple products, this could be a perfect job for you. A teaching qualification is not essential as the College will support you in obtaining a teaching or assessing qualification where appropriate.

Experience Required

  • An understanding of the games designs and development process

  • Design and planning skills

  • Exemplary research and writing skills to influence games design

  • Be able to demonstrate programming skills

  • Experience of using a range of audio editing programmes

  • Creative problem solving

  • Skills of portfolio building for university and employment

  • 2D and 3D design and animation

  • Awareness of the gaming industry

  • Engagement with employers

  • Working within a team across Digital, IT and Art

  • Some knowledge of the UAL Media Specification
