Are you caring and creative? Could you support people with learning disabilities, helping them live life on their own terms? No experience needed.

MacIntyre is a leading national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. We're looking for new staff who share our belief that what we do makes a real, positive difference in people's lives. To watch the stories of some of our staff and what it means to work at MacIntyre, visit our website and check out the Great Interactions blog.

We have vacancies for full-time (38 hpw) and part-time (20 hpw) Support Workers at our residential care service near Southampton.

About the role

You will join the friendly team at our small, homely residential care service in the village of Bursledon, where we support five adults (aged from 36 - 63) with a range of learning disabilities. You will play a key part in assisting people to live as independently as possible.

You will help them be active members of their local community, joining in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, such as going to the cinema, music, hydro, and going out for meals or to the theatre. The most important thing for the people we support here is that their staff are happy and do not rush them. Personal care is also required.

You will work shifts on a rota which includes days, evenings, nights, weekends and optional sleep-ins.

What we need from you

Although we welcome applicants from the care sector, experience is not necessary, as we provide a full induction and free training programme. To us, the right qualities of kindness, patience and willingness to learn are more important than experience. Let us know on your application whether you are looking for full time or part time.

Pay and Rewards

MacIntyre offers a full induction and ongoing training, including the opportunity to gain nationally accredited vocational qualifications. We also offer a range of benefits which include:

Generous annual leave allowance of 33 days including statutory public holidays, rising with service
Free training
Workplace pension scheme
MacIntyre Rewards - great retail and leisure discounts
Employee Assistance scheme to support your health and wellbeing
MacIntyre Staff Savings Scheme
Opportunities for transfers and promotions within MacIntyre and we are well represented in Hampshire

Salaries are dependent on successful completion of a 6 month probation period before qualifying for the salary uplift. Part time positions are paid pro rata.

The closing date for this position is: Friday 20 April 2018
