Salary: From: £20,407 - £24,941 pro-rata
Job Type: Part Time, 12 months Fixed Term Contract
Hours: 18 hours per week
Location: Oldham, Manchester (Commutable from Bolton, Stockport, Huddersfield, Burnley and surrounding areas)

About the role:

Reporting to the Housing and Wellbeing Manager, the Peer Mentor Coordinator will be responsible for working alongside Housing and Wellbeing Officers and Assistants to develop a team of peer mentors that will provide practical help and advocacy, help with finding and accessing local services and support to engage in meaningful and rewarding activity; in line with the independence and wellbeing framework. They would particularly welcome applications from individuals who have lived experience of homelessness or related issues.

You will develop and support a Peer Mentors programme, identifying roles and activities to complement and enhance the support delivered in partnership with housing and wellbeing officers and assistants to their customers. Lead on recruitment, induction and co-ordination of the Peer Mentors. Identify and deliver professional, impartial and inclusive development, training and volunteering plans to support peer mentors in partnership with their Learning and Development department. Support the Housing and Wellbeing Manager with the establishment, delivery and monitoring of the Peer Mentor service. To work flexibly as part of a dedicated staff team to deliver high quality services in line with the Independence and Wellbeing framework and principles.

About you:

To be successful in this role you must be qualified to minimum GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and maths as well as holding relevant professional qualifications / memberships or be willing to study towards this. You will have experience of managing and developing peer mentor support services and volunteer; including recruitment, induction and co-ordination of peer mentors accompanied with experience of homelessness or related issues.

You will be experienced in preparing, planning and delivering training courses to individuals and groups whilst using a strength-based approach to assist customers to achieve their goals. Experience of working in a customer focused environment, with a proven ability of delivering a high standard of customer service is essential. You’ll have the ability to engage and to build relationships with partnering or potential partner agencies or organisations.

You may have experience of the following: Project Coordinator, Peer Mentor. Mentoring Coordinator, Project Worker, Project Management, Support Assistant, etc.
