We are looking for a part time payroll officer.

Previous experience is essential. Hours can be 25/30 per week but over a 5 day period

Payroll Officers are accountable to the Payroll Manager from whom he/she will receive support and supervision.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Calculate monthly and weekly salaries accurately and efficiently including statutory payments SSP,SMP,SPP,ShPP
• Prepare computerised payslips for organisations and Direct Payment clients
• Monthly returns for PAYE (National Insurance and Tax )
• Ensure all payslips and monthly returns are sent to clients in a timely manner in accordance with agreed procedures.
• Provide a payroll support service to all clients including calculations with employer cost by telephone, face to face and Email
• Deal with queries from HMRC and other statutory bodies on behalf of Clients
• Download information regularly from the HMRC secure website regarding tax codes, student loan deductions, late submission and filing notices, and implement the instructions.
• Process and prepare Client payroll and upload all payments monthly to the Unity Bank E-payment to be paid 20th monthly
• Process and prepare weekly BACS salaries for payment each Friday.
• Process and prepare Direct Payment Client payroll and upload to PFS systems for payment monthly, no later than the last Friday of each month.
• Ensure adequate funds in each Client account to cover salaries, HMRC payments
and fees, and chase payment where necessary
• Ensure adequate funds in each Direct Payment account of PFS system to cover salaries, HMRC and fees, and chase payment where necessary.
• Process and register Clients for Auto Enrolment where necessary, and ensure continuous assessments in line with The Pensions Regular compliance procedures
• Support Payroll Manager pension procedures when necessary
• Attend Funding Fairs and other promotional events in order to promote the work of the company.
• Carry out any other duties as required by the Payroll Manager or the Board of
Directors

The post holder will be expected to participate in any new initiatives to enable the company to expand.
