Using prescribed recipes and/or oral instruction, an Apprentice Chef may cook a variety of foods including meats, fish, fowl, simpler dishes, sandwiches and salads. Miscellaneous pre-preparation duties are conducted by the apprentice including cleaning and maintenance associated with their assigned work stations. An apprentice may participate in filling individual orders for hot foods, beverages, and other food items as well as replenishing food and beverage items in self-service areas. The responsibility for initiating orders for some types of food and supplies may be given to the apprentice. Some Apprentice Chefs perform catering duties at special events.
