Are you looking for part time work to earn a little money?

Would you be willing to work one night a week and occasional extra shifts?

Could you support people with learning disabilities, helping them live life on their own terms?

We have a vacancy for a Waking Nights Support Worker in our service in Market Drayton, Shropshire. This position is working one night a week from 21:45 to 7:45 and also covering sickness and annual leave of other staff members. The shifts will also include weekends and bank holidays.

About the role

MacIntyre supports five people (aged from 49 to 68) in this homely registered care service in Market Drayton. You will be available during the night to provide physical support and emotional reassurance when they are wakeful; checking at regular intervals to ensure they are comfortable and getting a good night's sleep ready for the next day.

People may come back from clubs discos during the night shift and they will need to be supported to bed. Some of the people do come downstairs in the night and sit in the lounge with the night staff as well. Some nights will be busy with everyone requiring support while other nights they can all sleep well. Full personal care will need to be given to all 5 of the people we support, both men and women.

Some cleaning and ironing is required but giving the people support is the important part of the job. There will always be another member of staff on duty (sleeping in) so in emergencies you will have support. Some moving and handling will be required as well as this is a busy house; training will be provided.

The work can be demanding and doesn't suit everyone, but if it's right for you, you'll find it incredibly rewarding and valuable. We will provide you with full training and with day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service (Frontline Manager).

What we need from you

Experience is not necessary, as we provide a full induction and free training programme, so this role is suitable for a trainee. People join us from many different backgrounds, it's more important to us that you have a positive approach and are willing to learn.
