If you think you could you support people with learning disabilities and help them be active members of their local community, then maybe this is the role for you?

We have vacancies covering a whole host of full-time and part-time Support Worker roles (Days or Nights); and you will be supporting adults in our Supported Living services in Ellesmere Port.

About the role

We have two nearby services in Ellesmere Port that both house 4 people (aged between 42 and 67) with moderate/profound learning difficulties and the successful applicants will be working in both locations.

You will play a key part in assisting the people we support to live as independently as possible and become part of the local community. They enjoy attending shows, going on holiday (here and abroad!), train journeys and discos, all of which you will be expected to join in with. Other hobbies include: gardening, astronomy, 60's music, motorbikes, shopping, and watching Prisoner Cell Block H on TV.

Because of the complexity of their learning disabilities, some people require help with intimate care or medication. They can display challenging behaviour such as verbal aggression and require emotional reassurance and support.

The work can be demanding and doesn't suit everyone, but if it's right for you, you'll find it incredibly rewarding and valuable. We will provide you with full training and with day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service.

You will be on a rota system which includes days, evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

What we need from you

Experience is not necessary, as we provide a full induction and free training programme. People join us from many different backgrounds, it's more important to us that you have a positive approach and are willing to learn.

You will have a chance to meet the people we support if successful at interview before determining whether the position is right for you.

It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be required to drive motability vehicles. Candidates must also be over 21 years of age for insurance purposes.
