NCS Social Action Manager
Also known as the "Assistant Programme Manager (Delivery)", the Social Action Manager joins The Challenge's core staff team during the delivery period of our 2018 Summer NCS programme.
The NCS Social Action Manager is a pivotal role, bridging the gap between our core Programmes teams and the seasonal staff working on the NCS programme. Primarily working in the NCS: Real Challenge Design and NCS: Real Challenge Action phases of the programme, which focus on team of young people designing and implementing their social action projects, you'll take over from the Youth Programme Leader and inspire teams & seasonal staff to make a real difference in their communities.
This role is perfect for motivated individuals with experience of youth engagement and project management.
- Line manage up to 10 seasonal staff members, and oversee the pastoral wellbeing & safety of up to 84 young people.
- Support teams of 12-13 young people to design, develop & implement a series of social action projects, including campaigns, sponsorship events and volunteering days.
- Ensure the NCS programme is as inclusive as possible by making logistical adjustments to the programme & supporting other staff members in adapting sessions for inclusion needs.
- Empower young people to complete and 'graduate' the NCS programme.
- Conduct Risk Assessments and give daily briefings to seasonal staff, and manage & record any incidents from the programme.
- Encourage & inspire young people to stay involved with The Challenge after NCS by promoting our NCS Graduate opportunities and Head Start programme.
- Manage logistics for the programme delivery, including transport, equipment & other resoruces.
- Manage sponsorship money, petty cash, budgets and reconciliations. Person Specification Experience of managing large scale events or projects in a paid or voluntary setting (e.g. managing youth programmes or complex events).
