Are you a people person? Could you support someone with learning disabilities, helping them live life on their own terms?

MacIntyre is a award-winning national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. Our core belief is that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.

We have a vacancy supporting adults for a part-time Support Worker in our service in Orford, Warrington.

About the role

You will play a key part in assisting the people we support to live as independently as possible. You will join in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, helping them be active members of their local community.

Your working day might include going for a walk in the park or to a football match with someone we support, working with someone to do the shopping, prepare meals and wash up, engaging people in creative activities such as painting and music.

Because of the complexity of their learning disabilities, some people require help with intimate care or medication. They can display challenging behaviour and require emotional reassurance and support.

The work can be demanding and doesn't suit everyone, but if it's right for you, you'll find it incredibly rewarding and valuable. We will provide you with full training and with day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service (Frontline Manager) and Senior practitioner.

You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins.

What we need from you

Experience is not necessary, as we provide a full induction and free training programme, so this role is suitable for a trainee. People join us from many different backgrounds, it's more important to us that you have a positive approach and are willing to learn.

It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be required to drive service vehicles.

Pay and Rewards

MacIntyre offers a full induction and ongoing training, including the opportunity to gain an industry wide recognised qualification. We also offer a range of benefits which include:

Generous annual leave allowance of 33 days including statutory public holidays, rising with service to a maximum of 38 days after five years.
Free training
Workplace pension scheme
Employee Assistance scheme to support your health and wellbeing
