Hours: 30 hours per week, 38 weeks per year
Salary: 22 hours/38 weeks Counsellor = £11,733 - £12,486 (FTE £22,982 - £24,456)
8 hours/38 weeks Co-ordinator = £5,156 - £5,451 (FTE £27,775 - £29,365)
Kirklees College is a large successful FE college, currently Ofsted graded as Good. Operating across Kirklees with centres based in Huddersfield and Dewsbury.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a modern building, with excellent on site facilities, such as a fully equipped gym, hair & beauty salons and fine dining restaurant.
The role of the College Counsellor is to undertake first line one–to–one support for students. To provide support, which contributes to student retention and impacts positively on success rates.
The Lead role of the Service will involve developing a safe, professional and accessible face to face counselling service, in line with professional standards, college policies and strategic objectives. To co-ordinate the delivery of the service, including counselling provision and monitoring and evaluation of the service.
The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C) and a Diploma in Counselling / Psychotherapy. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is also essential for the post.
