Sales / Customer Service Consultant
An introduction to recruitment...
Imagine you were looking for a job? You didn’t know what you wanted to do or what your skills were. You started looking online, in the job centre, you asked your friends and eventually a recruitment agency had come across your details and they called you as they thought you may be interested in a position they were recruiting for. You went into the office and although they were some formalities, you had to bring your passport and answer a lot of questions you had a good chat with the consultant and she said that she was confident she would be able to find you a brilliant position. The consultant said that after talking to you the position she thought was right wasn’t, but that she would stay in touch. You went home feeling slightly deflated and unsure if you would find something.
Two days later the consultant called you as she had been talking to someone about you and a company wanted to see you for an interview, when the job was explained it was much better than the first job you’d heard about and you couldn’t help but get really excited. She asked you to come back in and she wanted to talk to you about the job and make sure you were ready for the interview, especially as you hadn’t been for an interview in a long time. When you got there, she asked some really hard questions and you weren’t sure of all the answers. She talked through how to demonstrate your skills and experience as well as some good examples which related well to the job you were going for. She talked through the exact location, how you were getting there and gave you some further information on the company as well as their website to read up on, making sure you were fully prepared.
You left feeling really prepared, confident and ready for the interview. You went along the next day and BAM, you got the job!! When the consultant called you, it was the best news ever! You felt relieved and excited to start your new job.
Later that day when reflecting on the process you realised, if it wasn’t for that consultant taking the time to listen to you, find out what you wanted to do, talk to her client and then have you in for the interview prep you wouldn’t have been so confident and may not have got the job. She was brilliant – you must say thank you!
Imagine if you could be that consultant do that for someone else.
