  1. Provide high quality teaching in the subject areas required, given the resources available and within the agreed and approved current timetable, with due recognition of the relevant syllabus and course specifications, including the necessary preparation of teaching notes, handouts and visual aids where required.

  2. To follow recruitment procedures for candidates and ensure that initial assessment, advice and guidance is carried out.

  3. Assist with student interviews and course enrolments.

  4. Teach up to required levels on identified courses.

  5. Actively encourage and promote the process of student learning.

  6. Liaise with other staff as appropriate to ensure that work is fully and effectively covered.

  7. It is the primary responsibility of the post holder to ensure that set targets are achieved.

  8. Ensure that all marking, assessments and moderations are completed timely and tracked appropriately.

  9. To develop training materials this will enable the candidate to generate evidence against qualification requirements.

  10. Contribute to new developments as appropriate participating in the development of course materials to meet the needs of the new courses or changes to existing courses.

  11. Take an active and positive role as a team member of both team and cross-college teams as and when directed.

  12. Act as Programme Leader when required.

  13. Be primarily responsible for the recruitment of employers for apprentice placements and ensure that they are aware of their training obligations. Recruit suitable apprentices to match employer’s needs.





  14. To attend relevant employer and sector groups to raise the profile of the College and the provisions available.

  15. To carry out Health and Safety audits in the workplace and monitor candidates’ health and safety.

  16. To ensure the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) is completed, updated and maintained for all candidates in liaison with curriculum staff and employers.

  17. To complete all Funding Agency and College documentation for students and employers to support the training programme they are recruited to ensuring funding compliance at all times.

  18. To adhere to entry criteria and recruitment procedures for students and ensure that the results of the student’s initial assessment informs individual student target setting and is agreed with the student and/or employer.



  19. Direct the delivery of training. Ensure timely completion of qualifications, develop portfolios and support the embedding of Functional Skills and be responsible for the full apprenticeship framework.

  20. To act as advocate in resolving problems between students, employers and parents/guardians as appropriate and keep parents/guardians and employers updated on student progress.

  21. To carry out regular student reviews as required and update student files to reflect achievements, including the updating of tracking sheets. Through the review process, set and monitor training targets that effectively link on and off the job training, liaising with parents/guardians and/or the relevant employer.

  22. To carry out assessments of candidates in the college and work place in accordance with Awarding Body requirements.

  23. To ensure the high quality of the assessment process by working with Internal Verifiers and attending regular standardisation meetings.

  24. Ensure records of student achievements are maintained as required by the sector and relevant external bodies.



  25. To keep accurate records of student attendance and punctuality and update register systems of classes taught and regularly share with the relevant employer and/or course leader.

  26. To ensure that all relevant paperwork to enable the claiming of certificates accurately and timely, is forwarded to the MIS office

  27. To attend internal team and other meetings as required.

  28. To participate in the course review and evaluation process, contributing the area’s self-assessment report.
