To undertake commercial management services over the whole project lifecycle, from commencement through to project close out.
To provide commercial management functional support to the Design Joint Venture management team and ensure that timely and appropriate cost and contract administration is maintained


Implement effective post-contract commercial management services aimed at maintaining effective cost control and positive cashflow throughout the duration of the project.
Undertake all relevant commercial management duties in conformance with policies and procedures, in a timely and effective manner.
Manage the application for payment and invoicing processes.
Coordinate and analyse all relevant commercial data for the monthly reporting cycle and to provide accurate cost data in support of project forecasts and annual budget reviews.
Work with project teams in managing the cost impact and validation of change/compensation events and encourage the whole delivery team to strive to deliver value for money.
Post-contract management through to settlement of final accounts and internal reconciliations to facilitate project close out in line with project budgets and project plan.
Provide clear cost and contractual advice and maintain a close working relationship with all parties in the Design Joint Venture management team, throughout the project life cycle.
Analyse cost performance data and provide relevant input for monthly performance reports.
Coordinate with and support the project controls team.
Responsible for establishing and implementing appropriate commercial strategies including effective project cost management, change management, risk and KPI management.
Manage all commercial correspondence and contractual notices issued in accordance with contractual conditions
Identify emerging problems, report contractual claims and support in the management and resolution of legal and/or commercial disputes in conjunction with senior management


Experience in high value civil engineering, building, M&E, rail or general construction projects.
Main contractor or alliance experience.
Educated to degree level or equivalent and/or professional qualification.
10 years’ relevant experience in all aspects of post-contract commercial management on major infrastructure related projects
Broad experience in the commercial management of projects and implementing effective cost control processes.
Specific knowledge and experience of post-contract commercial services including those related to reporting, payment, variations, change and claims management and final account settlement.
An understanding of change, risk and contingency management processes.
Specific understanding of railway and construction industry contracts, ideally NEC3 standard forms.
Experience of resolution of construction contract disputes
Management of commercial resources.
Good communication skills both written and oral.


Able to communicate at senior management level
Good interpersonal skills.
Strong client facing skills.
Excellent commercial acumen.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable working either independently or as part of a team.
Willingness to mentor and share knowledge and experience with junior staff.
Ability to work positively within a diverse international management team and promote diversity.
