This is the key finance and commercial leadership role on a new business development project (s). The role requires the interpretation of development characteristics on a new business project into a financial and commercial context. An ability to effectively negotiate and establish the trust in all stakeholders is required of the post holder. This role performs as the business partner to the New Business lead on a project, advising on and influencing key commercial aspects of the project.

Accountabilities

The role is to have a knowledge of development as well as experience in managing external stakeholders such as vendors, investors and JV partners.

  • Lead on key areas of bids from a finance and commercial perspective, with active involvement in customer negotiations
  • Provides significant input to improve development assumptions and project commercial outcomes
  • The role is a key component of the bid / new business project team(s), and will work with colleagues across disciplines to drive the best possible acceptable financial and commercial outcomes for Lendlease, whilst representing a winning, differentiated proposition to secure new projects
  • Development and ownership of the financial model for new business projects, achieving best practice financial modelling
  • Ensure the finance aspects of the contractual arrangements of the new business project are in line with modelling assumptions
  • Ensuring that the management of the key partners and stakeholders such as vendors, investors, JV partners, and Councils are engaged in line with business or project objectives and with LL values
  • Ensuring that project assumptions are signed off by internal stakeholders including both business sector heads and functional heads, such as tax, accounting, treasury
  • Provide information to the central development finance team for management reporting and business plan purposes
  • Key input and responsibility in the preparation of internal approval papers including RIC, GIC and Board
  • Advise on and implement where appropriate risk management strategies to support and inform management decision making

Essential

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a development or similar complex project environment
  • Experience in development finance and commercial leadership roles
  • Understanding of development modelling and finance and commercial issues

Desirable

  • Ability to present in the presence of internal senior management and external stakeholders
  • Effective negotiator
