Kirklees College is a large successful FE college, currently Ofsted graded as Good. Operating across Kirklees with centres based in Huddersfield and Dewsbury.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a modern building, with excellent on site facilities, such as a fully equipped gym, hair & beauty salons and fine dining restaurant.
We are looking for a careers advisor to join our successful careers team. The team hold the Quality in Careers Standard and Matrix accreditation and were the first college in the country to be used as a case study on the National Quality in Careers website. The service is available to all students at the college, across all of the college centres and is delivered in partnership with C&K Careers.
The successful candidate would be part of a key team in college who oversee the colleges careers education programme and provide CIAG. Students are able to access the service via a number of routes, with work including individual appointments, drop-in session or group sessions delivered as part of our programme of activity, or curriculum specific. The team oversee and produce a range of resources available for students to use to support planning the next step in their route to work. Across college we co-ordinate Employability Week and HE week, and play a key role in induction week and progression enrolment. The team also the gatekeepers of the UCAS process for students wishing to progress onto degree level study.
The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C), a minimum of a Level 4 Careers qualification and either a Level 6 Careers qualification or willingness to undertake this in an agreed timescale. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is also essential for the post.
