We currently have a new vacancy for:

Assessor in Engineering x 2 (Working across Crewe and Ellesmere Port campuses and on employer premises)

Salary range: £23,747 - £27,472 per annum

The opportunity has arisen for 2 Assessors in Engineering. The ideal candidates will have at least 2 years’ recent experience in an engineering technology industry that includes mechatronics and/or maintenance engineering preferably within a mechanical and electrical engineering environment. In addition, a vocational qualification to at least level 4 or above and Assessor Award are essential. A teaching qualification is desirable.

You must have an excellent understanding of the skills, behaviours and knowledge required to work in the engineering technology industry or sector, have good communication skills and be willing to undertake further continuous updating and training. We work with several national and multi-national employers, the applicant should have experience of working with large scale engineering employers. An enthusiasm for helping others acquire skills and fulfil their potential is essential. This role will involve travel to workplaces to undertake assessments.

Your workload will include the following duties:

  • Coaching, mentoring and assessing apprentices across a number of programmes
  • Supporting individuals to achieve the technical skills, behaviours and knowledge needed to achieve their full apprenticeship framework or standard; including reviews and the arrangement of exams as appropriate
  • Work and support members of the assessment team to achieve college objectives
  • Undertake facilitation of learning
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records detailing the progress of your candidates using College procedures


The roles will have specific campus bases, however, you will be expected to work across multiple college sites and employers’ premises.
