I am currently recruiting for an experienced functional skills teacher to work in the Kettering area.

The role is 3 days per week. Salary package will be pro rata. Full time role currently circa £28K

Job description below:

Main Purpose of Job: To co-ordinate and deliver effective Functional Skills Training programmes for Learners. Advice, assess and review Learners to meet prescribed standards and outcomes.
Responsible to: Training Manager

Liaison with: Team members, verifiers, companies, and other training support organisations including Awarding Bodies. Learners, Educations and Skills Funding Agency, Ofsted and associated representatives, parents where necessary.

Main Tasks of Job:

1. To assess incoming Learners, plan and deliver Functional Skills training programme that suitably meets the needs of the Learner and employer.

1. Prepare individual detailed reports on initial assessment and ensure that the information is discussed with the individual and assessor and a learning plan is developed.

1. Drive, promote and monitor the colleges Maths, English and ICT strategy to ensure it is embedded within the organisation.

1. Ensure all training staff are constantly up dated regarding the development of individual skills and support with mapping functional skills across the organisation.

1. Make contributions to the activities detailed within the colleges Skills for Life strategy and ensure the progress of the development/action plan.

1. Where necessary undertake a formal review of the Learners progress towards achievement.

1. Provide Liaison between the Learner/college Training Staff and the employer to ensure that the employer is familiar with Learners progress and the correct levels of support are forthcoming.

1. Liaise and support that the needs are met for those learners requiring additional support to meet Literacy and Numeracy standards.

1. Co-ordinate and manage a programme of delivery which will overcome any barriers to achievement that potential Learners may encounter.

1. Provide support, assistance and professional guidance to assist Learners with their progression, including effective assessment planning and portfolio development in line with the requirements within Functional skills.

1. Undertake formal assessment/observation of Learners competence and maintain accurate records in accordance with the colleges and national standards.

1. Undertake projects/development tasks to improve performance and delivery of the organisations training provision.

1. Responsible for the delivery of functional skills/GCSE and new learner Inductions.

1. Provide the Training Manager with monthly progress reports.

1. Promote Equality, Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Quality Assurance and Continuous improvement throughout the organisation.

1. Participate in all recommended opportunities for Training and Development to enhance your role within the organisation
