Thank you for considering the role of Programmes Director for the new Government Property Agency (GPA), which launched on 1st April 2018 as an Executive Agency of the Cabinet Office.


This is an incredibly exciting time for government property - real estate is at the heart of reinventing Government, and the GPA is central to delivering on the vision of a ‘Brilliant Civil Service’.


The GPA will reframe the way Government manages its multi-billion pound annual investment in the Central Civil Estate.  The ambition is to introduce a portfolio-led, whole of Government approach to managing £13bn of general-purpose property (offices, warehouses, storage and depots, and the non-specialist science estate) as a strategic asset.


Beyond the bricks and mortar, the GPA is about providing great workplaces for our people. The Programmes Director is central to this, leading on the delivery of a portfolio of programmes across the Government office and warehouse portfolios. This complex delivery challenge is at the heart of the success of GPA and the vanguard of creating modern environments and promoting flexible working practices for the Civil Service.


What we are offering?

This is an exciting and high profile role with significant delivery and leadership responsibilities. The Programmes Director will report directly to the CEO and will be required to regularly report on progress to the Government Property Agency Board and the Cabinet Office sponsor function. This is a crucial role that ensures coherence of delivery across four major programmes central to the transformation of the Government estate, and other client projects.


What we are looking for?

We are looking for an exceptionally talented, experienced and enthusiastic programme director.  You must have a proven track record of managing large-scale projects and programmes, of comparable scale and complexity, within a complex stakeholder environment, delivering transformational change. Experience of significant property and/or infrastructure project delivery is essential as well as experience of senior leadership across a multi-tasked organisation.
