Applications are invited for an exciting new substantive Specialty Doctor role with one of Uks leading independent providers of highly specialised inpatient rehabilitation programmes for acute and long term neurological conditions, in the North West of England.

The hospital is a state of the art and fully equipped purpose-built facility providing 26 inpatient beds and two transitional bungalows for individuals who require individualised rehabilitation and condition management programmes for a range of acquired and degenerative conditions including:

- Acquired brain injury (ABI)
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME)
- Multiple sclerosis
- Neurodegenerative disorder including Huntington's disease
- Neuromuscular disorder
- Spinal injuries
- Stroke

Duties and responsibilities of this role include:

- To be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
- Ensure that the medical process from referral to discharge/transfer of the patient is effective and efficient.
- Provide clinical reports to funding and referring authorities as required.
- To take part in all aspects of clinical assessment and treatment for patients admitted for neuro-rehabilitation.
- To provide appropriate healthcare to the patient's physical needs and make appropriate referrals to general and surgical services.
- Maintain a high standard of medical records
- To ensure proper communication with other involved professionals in the daily patient care, including the preparation of progress reports, CPA reports and discharge summaries.
- To liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies regarding planning patient's after care plans.
- To categorise all patients diagnosed with an ICD-10 classification.
- To work in accordance with service policies and guidelines.
- The post holder will have an active role in development of services, on-going and new research projects, clinical audit, journal clubs and clinical meetings.

For eligibility, candidates are required have to a minimum of two years' of relevant post qualification experience at Core Trainee or equivalent level in general medical settings, ideally inclusive of training and/or experience in neuro-rehabilitation. Competencies in neuro-rehabilitation assessment, pharmacology as applied to neuro-rehabilitation and experience of specific therapies applied to neuro-rehabilitation, are also particularly desirable although by no means mandatory.
