Branwell Ward is an acute service that supports up to 19 men in a therapeutic and calming setting. This service is an emergency admission ward that aims to work with each individual service user who have a broad range of mental health illness. The team works closely and collaboratively with service users, family and the referrer to provide a seamless pathway from referral to discharge.
This post is part of a fully integrated Multi-Disciplinary Team including nursing, psychology, support and administration services.
As part of a dynamic MDT, you will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of mental illness in adults referred to Branwell Ward. You will be experienced in the assessment, risk assessment and treatment of Psychiatric problems and possess a good working knowledge of Psychopharmacological and Psychosocial interventions. In addition, you will be expected to undertake these assessments, in collaboration with other members of the MDT.
You will demonstrate excellent leadership and listening skills and be flexible and tolerant under pressure, working 8 hours per day (Monday to Friday) in addition to On-Call cover on a 1 in 7 basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Detailed assessment of new service users referred to Cygnet Hospital Wyke and Cygnet Lodge Brighouse when on-call, including history taking and initiation of any necessary investigations.
2. Establishing, initiating and evaluating treatment plans and risk assessments in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist.
3. Liaising with relatives and informal carers of service users as required.
4. Undertaking relevant referrals to other disciplines and services both within the multi-disciplinary team as well as to services and resources external to the service.
5. Attending team MDT meetings to discuss ongoing treatment of service users.
6. Observation of company policies and procedures; including those related to medicines management and physical healthcare.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Primary Medical Degree with full GMC registration and GMC Licence to Practice.
2. MRCPsych accredited.
3. Section 12 MHA approved.
4. Completed at least 2 years full time post graduate training which will be in a specialty training programme in the relevant specialty.
