Opus People Solutions are actively seeking experienced Occupational Therapists to work on a temporary basis within Adult and Community Services at Suffolk County Council. As part of Suffolk County Council's professional Occupational Therapy service, you will be working as part of a team in one of our Neighbourhood or specialist clusters (Hospital, Learning Disabilities, Dementia or Review Clusters) or Home First. In line with the Supporting Lives Connecting Communities, the Care Act, Integration with Health and Making Safeguarding Personal, you will be promoting the following; independence, well-being and choice for customers, by carrying out high quality assessment and agreement of physical, psychological and environmental needs.

Essential Skills and Experience Required

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current moving and handling training
  • Current HCPC professional Registration
  • Demonstrable relevant or post qualifying experience
  • An understanding of OT related legislation including Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act, Manual Handling Operations Act and the Care Act 2014
  • Ability to demonstrate the assessed reablement plan simultaneously to a mixed group including customers and carers, relatives and other professionals
  • In depth knowledge of daily living equipment for people with disabilities e.g, hoists , bathing equipment, moving and handling equipment, environmental control systems, kitchen equipment
  • High level of literacy and numeracy skills for report writing and information recording
  • Ability to negotiate influence and conciliate with a range of people
  • Expectation to travel around the County to meet the demands of the service
  • Registered with DBS Update Service is preferred, however will carry out new checks for successful candidates who are not registered
