POST AWARD CATERING ASSISTANT MANAGER

Hours to be worked Monday to Friday on a pre-arranged flexible basis, to suit the needs of the Catering Department Seevic College Support Staff Pay Scale RESPONSIBLE TO

CATERING MANAGER JOB SPECIFICATION RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Overseeing the work of the Catering Assistants, under the direction of the Catering Manager.

JOB PURPOSE:

To assist the Catering Manager, in all areas of the catering department, deputising for the Catering Manager where appropriate. Lead the Catering Assistants to operate and maintain the highest levels of efficient, hygienic, safe and reliable service.



MAIN DUTIES:

? To provide excellent Customer Service to the Staff, Students and visitors of the College, participating in a front line service

? Communicate with the Catering Manager the requirements of the Catering business. With support from the Catering Manager, responsible for the development and performance of the catering areas

? Plan, organise and discuss with team members their work roles and responsibilities, with emphasis on customer care, marketing and team goals

? Provide and participate in the food service operation, following all food safety requirements Assist and guide staff as necessary in matter relating to correct procedures

? Raise daily orders to the Catering Manager, informing of any particular shortage of goods to allow alternative arrangements to be made

? Receiving and recording of cash transactions, operation of cash registers

? To record, manage and maintain accurate records of daily cash reconciliation and health and safety.

? Deal with customer and staff complaints when necessary and confidently handle customer and staff requests

? Clearing, washing up and cleaning duties

? To undertake beverage trolley duties and delivery duties of hospitality service.

? To support the catering department on the delivery of out of hours functions. By prior arrangement where appropriate. Relevant overtime paid agreed by Catering Manger and H.R Department or local arrangement of time in lieu.

? To participate in workshops, business update meetings and training sessions to ensure cascading of information through the service as and when required

? Any other duties compatible with the post which may reasonably be required from time to time

MAJOR TASKS AND PROBLEMS

? Ability to prioritise and juggle various tasks, supporting the Catering Department, whilst adhering to deadlines as required

? Support requirements to deal with queries in a professional and calm manner

? Ability to understand and apply appropriate procedures relating to Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, and able to monitor and report appropriately.

? Health and Safety is everyone's responsibility and you will be required to adhere to all policy and legislative practice during every activity of work, as well as attending necessary training.

? Has an understanding that safeguarding is a shared cross college responsibility. Takes ownership of embedding safeguarding practices into their remit as appropriate to their role within the organisation

Commit to other duties compatible with the post held, which may reasonably be required from time to time ERSON SPECIFICATION CATERING ASSISTANT MANAGER Essential Desirable Education & Training Strong numeracy skills to interpret data, assess costs and monitor and maintain budgets ? Basic food hygiene training/certificate ? Health & Safety qualification ? Experience which demonstrates: o 1 / 2 years in a similar position ? o practical and theoretical knowledge of food preparation and service ? o Working knowledge of basic food hygiene procedures ? o Working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act ? Personal Skills & Qualities o Lead, manager and motivate a team ? o Good communication and interpersonal skills ? o Ability to work on own initiative ? o Good organisational skills ? o Flexible attitude to duties undertaken ? o Good customer service skills ?
