Support Worker (Charity / Learning Disabilities) 

Supporting someone with personal care; to enabling them to make informed choices, join us and help us change lives. 

Hft is a national charity that’s been supporting people with learning disabilities since 1962. We put the people we support at the centre of everything we do and use our experience to work in partnership with them to provide personalised services to more than 3,000 people. 

We currently have vacancies available for full and part-time Support Workers in Redditch, you will be supporting adults with learning disabilities to be independent and gain the confidence to make real choices. 

Position: Support Worker 
Location: Redditch, Worcestershire 
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 per week & Part-time, 28 hours available 
Hourly rate: £7.83 aged 21+ or £7.66 ages 18-20, both rising to £8.12 on successful completion of probation and Health & Social Care Diploma/NVQ Level 2

About the role: 

At Hft Redditch we have a Short Breaks Service which is registered for 5 individuals. It is a bungalow that has wheelchair access. We support people with their personal care, home activities and accessing the community. 

As a Support Worker within this Hft service you will be expected to access the community therefore a full, current UK/EU driving licence is necessary. You’ll enable the people we support to go to the gym, cinema, swimming and to join in cooking, gardening, art groups and pamper sessions. 

We provide 24/7 support to some people, so this role would suit you if you like the idea of working shifts and hours that include some weekends, nights and Bank Holidays. You may also get the opportunity to accompany the people we support on holidays and attend training courses and other activities. 

About you: 

You don’t need experience of support work or any special qualifications for this job, you’ll get plenty of training along the way. It’s great if you already have experience of learning disabilities, autism or dementia, but this is by no means essential. What matters most is your positive attitude to life and your desire to support people to live their life with as much independence, choice, dignity and control as possible.
