Play Worker / Family Support Worker 

Pact is a national charity that supports those affected by imprisonment, and their children and families. 

Position: Play Specialist 
Location: HMP Nottingham & HMP Foston Hall 
Job type: Part time, Fixed Term Contract up to November 2021 
Hours: 23 ¾ (including weekend work) 
Salary: £14,566.67 per annum (FTE £23,000)

About the role: 

Working as a member of the Family Services team at HMP Nottingham and HMP Foston Hall, you will with focus on delivering high quality engaging play activities for children visiting the prison to see their loved one. 

As a Play Specialist you will ensure prisoners, their children, carers and other relatives have access to appropriate advice, guidance, learning opportunities, care and support to better enable them to maintain or enhance positive relationships. 

This role is supported by BBC Children in Need. 

About you: 

To be successful as a Play Specialist you will work closely with Pact and prison staff to plan, resource and manage visits relating to children, such as family days and child-centred visit. 

In addition to, providing warm, human support and ensure that children, families and prisoners are treated with respect, dignity and courtesy and ensure their needs are considered and views are heard at all levels. 

This post includes weekend work on Saturdays and Sundays.

This post is subject to a 6 month probationary period, verification of identity and proven right to work in the UK, satisfactory references from previous employers covering a 3 year period, declaration of any unspent criminal convictions (and where appropriate a satisfactory risk assessment), Prison Vetting and a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check. Please note that being bankrupt or having County Court Judgements may affect your ability to be successfully vetted to work in a prison.
