Formed from the merger of Sussex Coast and Sussex Downs Colleges, East Sussex College Group is a powerful new educational resource that will transform countless futures. We will give the young people of the county the best possible A-levels and technical qualifications, deliver apprenticeships and adult community learning fit for the modern world, and create a highly skilled and adaptable workforce. Effective financial management will be central to our success – placing you at the heart of everything we do as you join us from the very beginning.
Joining our College Group Management Team and reporting directly to the Director of Finance, you will enjoy considerable visibility and autonomy as you produce, analyse and review financial accounting information from across the College. In particular, you will prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, assist with the rolling monthly cash flow forecast, create quarterly VAT returns and support the delivery of statutory accounts as well as our annual financial return to the Education and Skills Funding Agency. We will look to you to enhance our working procedures and practices, set the highest standards of customer service and develop tools that deliver real insight – and of course to maximise the performance of every member of your team.
A qualified and experienced financial accountant, you will join us with proven experience of producing balance sheet reconciliations, engaging auditors and building strong and highly productive departments. Familiarity with pensions (LGPS/TPS), financial governance, tax and auditing within the further education sector would be a major asset, but it’s your sharp analytical mind, exceptional computer literacy and determination to drive continuous improvement that will really count.
