Colchester Institute is seeking to recruit hourly paid Job Coach Assistants to work flexibly, on an ad hoc basis, to provide 1:1 and small group support for students with special educational needs in the workplace. The role includes supporting the development of learners’ employability skills by providing appropriate personal and physical support as necessary in a range of contexts

The successful applicant will have experience of working with young people with special educational needs and disabilities in a classroom or work setting as well as knowledge of good health and safety practice. You will have Excellent oral communication skills, including presentation skills and telephone skills and have good time management and organisational skills

You will have a good standard of education indicated through good GCSE grades of 4 - 9 (or equivalent) in Maths and English, and be able to use a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel to produce written correspondence and materials to a high standard of accuracy and presentation.

We are seeking to recruit hourly paid Job Coach Assistants to work flexibly, on an ad hoc basis, to provide 1:1 and small group support for students with special educational needs in the workplace.

MAIN TASKS:

  • Support the development of learners’ employability skills by providing appropriate personal and physical support as necessary in a range of contexts
  • Empower learners to work independently and to integrate with other colleagues in the work place/learners and staff at college
  • Support with travel and route planning training for learners to enable independent travel to work placements
  • Complete regular written reports on learner progress and maintain other appropriate learner records as required.
  • Contribute to the ILP and tutorial process
  • Develop effective working relationships with employers and other relevant staff from work placements
  • To observe all college policies including Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities and Safeguarding
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, formal supervision and performance reviews
  • To undertake such other duties that may be required by or on behalf of Colchester Institute provided they are consistent with the nature of the post
