Qualified Social Worker – Child Protection Team – Woking, Surrey
On 1st May 2017 Surrey County Council launched Surrey Family Services (SFS). This exciting development brings together responsibilities for Services for Young People, Early Help Coordination Hubs, our Family Information Service and Family Support Programme (Troubled Families), children’s centres, and our edge of care provision.
The key vision of SFS is to reshape Surrey’s early help delivery model to ensure that a strong multi-agency partnership can deliver a coordinated and cohesive local early help offer to improve outcomes for children and families and reduce the requirement for more acute services. This will be achieved by implementing a Family Hub delivery model (a local multi-door portal to a wide range of different services) for Early Help services in each of Surrey’s eleven districts and boroughs.
Underpinning this development are eleven Families Teams led by a SFS Service Manager. These district and borough based multi-professional teams work with whole families and potentially children of all ages (0-19 and up to 25 where there are special educational needs and disabilities) but lead on the responsibilities for young people and their families. The role of these teams is to ensure that children, young people and families can access appropriate early help support as quickly as possible and also to deliver integrated youth support including statutory social work and youth justice services.
