My client is looking for passionate Learning Support Workers who really want to make the difference in the lives of adults with autism for a day centre within the Surrey area.

The successful candidate will support adults with autism and related disabilities in the attainment of knowledge and skills that will enhance their well-being, independence and social inclusion.

The responsibilities of the Learning Support Worker includes:

  • To work as part of a team providing ABA based support
  • Ensure Clients individual needs are met through effective personal support planning and review
  • Provide the support and care identified in Clients individual learning plans
  • Interact and participate with the Clients in the development of skills, supporting Clients to reach their potential for independence
  • Support Clients participation in social, leisure, educational and employment opportunities within the local community
  • Encourage and enable Clients to maintain acceptable levels of personal and environmental hygiene
  • Facilitate and support Clients in decision making, promoting choice and involvement giving full regard to initiatives aimed at promoting Client empowerment
  • Participate in staff meetings as required
  • Collect, record and analyse data on the learning programmes delivered as instructed by Management or Team Leaders
  • Once trained, administer medication in accordance with Company policies and procedures, and ensure that medical emergencies are dealt with appropriately
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all internal staff
  • Complete key worker responsibilities
  • Write communication books
  • Complete client finance logs daily

Requirements of a Learning Support Worker:

  • Good communication skills – listening, understanding, ability to express self to people from a range of backgrounds and cultures and ability to negotiate with service users, relatives and providers
  • Must be able and willing to learn quickly and put into practise what you have learnt
  • The desire to help others to enjoy learning and develop independence
  • Experience of working with adults or children with learning or communication difficulties
  • Experience of working with adults or children with autism
  • 5 GCSE’s with minimum Grade C/level 4 or equivalent, including Maths and English Language
  • Must hold a Care Certificate
  • Full Driving Licence
  • An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ recent experience working with vulnerable young people
  • The post holder must have manual handling training dated within the last 6 months

Salary: £17,000 per annum, based on experience
