Messly - Clinical Lead

We’re looking for a smart, ambitious and entrepreneurial former NHS manager or administrator who’s interested in taking their experience into a young start up looking to create change and leave a legacy within UK healthcare. Sound intriguing? Read on....

About Messly

Our vision is to build out the UK’s comprehensive professional network for doctors, and in the process to revolutionise medical training and recruitment within the NHS. The NHS is on it’s knees lurching from one workforce crisis to the next. We believe that the tools and services supporting the training and recruitment of NHS doctors isn’t fit for purpose.

What's the solution?

Messly's vision is to be the online home for all UK doctors - providing doctors with unified training resources and data, peer-peer connectivity and recruitment services across the whole of the NHS. We will provide the NHS with world-class digital infrastructure to directly engage with the medical workforce for temporary and permanent work, skipping the agencies and enabling game-changing financial savings.

As part of this, we offer our Messly Locum service to NHS hospitals. They use Messly Locum to fill rota gaps directly with the best doctors in their area, rather than relying on expensive agencies. They use the Messly app to post shifts, which the doctors apply for. This removes much of the calls and paperwork that wastes so much time in NHS departments, and saves the NHS a significant amount.

We are fully committed and extremely confident that we can make this happen.

1. Our story so far

We’re already delivering - over the last 18 months we’ve built a medical network of over 12,000 doctors and medical students. That’s 20% of the junior medical workforce. We’ve got 7 NHS Trusts using our recruitment services and are generating revenue.

2. Our team

We strongly believe a solid team is critical for success. So we’ve gone out and built a crack team of clinicians, developers, designers, commercial experts and marketeers. Our founders are close-friends with significant medical and commercial experience. Our tech team are rockstar coders with incredible design flair. Our ops are run by an ex-Amazon whiz. Supporting our troops are an advisory board made up of some of the most well-connected entrepreneurs and healthcare experts, who are helping to embed Messly within the healthcare ecosystem. We’ve been backed by all leading healthcare innovation hubs including DigitalHealth.London, NHS Clinical Entrepreneurs Programme and InnovateUK.

3. Our funding

We’ve raised over £1.1m to focus on building the best digital tools and services for our doctors and NHS. Quite simply we can more patient and long-term than anyone else in the market to realise our bold vision.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a smart, ambitious and entrepreneurial former NHS manager or administrator to join on this exciting journey. You will be passionate about our vision of transforming training and recruitment within the NHS; you will be a recognised self-starter with a proven track record of high achievement. Yes you probably won't have worked in a startup before.

The role itself will involve:

communicating with our current and prospective Messly Locum customers to understand their challenges and share information about the service
working closely with the sales team to reach new customers
designing and executing new marketing tactics to attract new customers
working with existing customers to get referrals

We’re a small team looking to achieve superhuman results. The job won’t be a doddle, and we can’t guarantee exactly how your role will change and evolve as you get exposure to various aspects of our business. What we can guarantee is that it will be rewarding, varied, challenging, and will give you an opportunity to grow beyond yourself in an environment of like-minded, highly ambitious people.

Ultimately, we want you to be a part of a lasting legacy within the National Health Service and contribute to making the lives of every single doctor in the UK more fulfilling.

To apply please send a CV and cover letter explaining the relevant NHS experience you have.
